Making the business shift
There's been a lot of talk about businesses needing to "shift" during these times. Mine is no exception. Over the last few weeks I've had to learn creative systems for shipping to our clients. As a small business owner, this can come with some challenges, however with so much information at our fingertips these days, it has been a smooth transition. We are optimistic about the future. We believe these times are prepping us for something amazing and BIG!
With that being said, we wanted to share a few tips that have helped us follow our local laws of shelter in place and still ship products to our clients.
The first thing we did was update our shipping options on our Shopify website. In the past we would bring our packages to our local post office and have them weigh and create a shipping label. We now have the ability to fulfill our orders, create a label and pay for it, all from the comfort of our home. Having a digital postal scale is very helpful and almost essential. I purchased the Accuteck All-in-1 series.
I like that it was ready to use right out of the box ( I didn't have to calibrate it ), it can read weights up to 50 lbs and it's powered by batteries or adapter.
The next thing we did was set up a business account with USPS. It was super easy, quick and straight to the point. After that we scheduled our first package pickup.The process was simple, FREE and I was even able to schedule multiple pick up dates for the week!
Now I have to be honest, I was really skeptical about whether or not they were going to show up at my door and pick up my packages! However, to my pleasant surprise our scheduled pickup was a success. We are really excited to continue using this business tool as we find ways to adhere to social distancing! This service will also allow us to spend less time traveling to the post office and more time producing excellent products and services for our community. WIN-WIN!!
